Safety in the Cabin
- Smoke detectors are installed on both levels
- Carbon monoxide detector is on the main level
- Fire extinguisher is in the kitchen
- First aid kit is under the bathroom sink
Wildlife
Kachina Village is in the forest โ you may see elk, deer, javelinas, and occasionally bears.
- Don't approach or feed wildlife
- Keep trash bins closed โ animals can open them
- If you see a bear: make noise, back away slowly, don't run
- Elk can be aggressive during fall rut season โ give them space
Winter Safety
- Roads can be icy โ drive slowly, especially on Kona Trail
- Pipes: If it's extremely cold, we may ask you to drip faucets
- The deck and steps can be slippery when icy โ watch your step
Fire Safety
Flagstaff has frequent fire restrictions, especially in summer. No outdoor fires, candles, or fireworks at any time. Check current restrictions at the Coconino National Forest website.
